G’day, from Australia!
We are both nature lovers who live a life of spontaneity and adventure. Me and my partner Trent have always had a goal to live life on the road. To live each day in the present and just soak in all the blessings and beauty of this Great Southern Land. So we decided to get out of the rat race called “Sydney” and hop into our vintage 1988 Winnebago Slide on Campervan… and hit the road, indefinitely!
Happened to be our seven-year itch on the road too, which makes it quite eventful 🙂. What perfect timing to hit the road and be Free!
We have been on the road for four months already and have learned so much. We had planned this lifestyle change for so long, and it still seems surreal how lucky we are to be experiencing this. At the ages of 26 and 27, we feel blessed.
To be completely honest…The first few days felt uncomfortable and to say the least “awkward” even though we had done little trips here and there, reality had sunk in quick! The sadness of leaving our beautiful family’s behind, and the nerves of no longer getting a paycheck weighed on our minds.
But within a week we started to get our routine naturally and look at this world differently. You can live a natural, healthy life with minimal dollars; you just need to be mindful of your costs. I love the feeling of appreciating the little things, as silly as it sounds, the luxury of having water, shelter, bin, bench and toilet! So each day is always different, and you never know where you will end up next 🙂 And we are never short of a great view!
The past few months we have cruised outback NSW and the Coast of QLD all the way up to the Tip of Australia. Soon to be heading to the Red Centre. So many walks of life on this land. We have already made lots of friends on the road and shared lots of stories. Sharing a meal, sitting around the fire, exchanging traveling stories… there’s nothing better! We are getting used to this minimal, simplistic lifestyle a little too easy I think!
Peace and Love

VANLIFERS OF THE MONTH
Yes, we quit our jobs, but we did it to start a business that involves the things we love – rock climbing, mapping, being outdoors, and living in a van.
It was November 2012 when we quit our jobs, gave away our stuff, and hit the road. We had been living in the urban wasteland of Southern California and were burnt out on the endless cycle of work, sleep, consume. We craved space, silence, and wildness. We craved things we didn’t yet know existed.
The idea was for us to take a short break to rethink each of our professional and academic paths. We bought our camper in Panama in July and started our journey North towards the USA. Our trip was supposed to end a month ago, and yet, here we are, hooked to the Vanlife and planning to stay on the road for another six months, with Alaska as our final destination.
