Four years ago we reconnected after having been acquaintances in college. We spent the first few years of our relationship backpacking, traveling, and adventuring in New England. We live in Boston and used to love the noise and busyness of it.
But things started to change. Only having three or four weeks a year to travel wasn’t cutting it. We longed for more freedom and more time back in our lives to focus on the things that matter to us instead of our 9-5 jobs. We started to formulate the dream of vanlife after Sam read Walden on Wheels by Ken Ilgunas last year, and then this past spring we took a road trip from Boston, MA to Portland, OR as a trial run. We fell in love with the open road and the possibility of anything. So many beautiful parts of our country and Canada that we can’t wait to explore.
So a month ago we bought ourselves a 2005 Ford E250 and are converting it ourselves! Although we’ve just begun this journey, we’re beyond excited and so thankful we’re making our vanlife dream come true. We’ll take Sam’s photography business on the road and hope to make vanlife last as long as possible!
